Test Code APSYNAP
Description In neoplasms with endocrine differentiation, synaptophysin and chromogranin have been found to be the most useful due to their broad spectrum sensitivity and preservation in conventional paraffin-embedding processing. Either or both markers may be employed, when recognition of a process of an endocrine nature is important in the differential diagnosis.

NOTE: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist.
