|Test||WT-1, IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY STAIN|
|Description||WT-1 (Wilm’s Tumor Protein) is a tumor-supressor gene expressed in developing renal tissue and other mesenchymal tissue. Inactivation of this protein results in development in Wilm’s tumor, a pediatric renal malignancy. This protein has been identified in proliferative mesothelial cells, malignant mesothelioma, ovarian cystadenocarcinomas, gonadoblastoma, neuroblastoma, and desmoplastic small round cell tumors.
NOTE: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist.
