Test CHOLESTERYL ESTERS, SERUM 
Methodology Enzymatic Colorimetric 
Description Measurement of the percentage of esterified serum cholesterol is helpful in establishing a diagnosis of lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase deficiency and to evaluate the extent of metabolic disturbance by bile stasis or liver disease.

NOTE:
1. Third party billing IS NOT AVAILABLE for this test. When ordered on Medicare patients, a properly executed Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) must be submitted with the specimen.
2. Performance characteristics have been determined by the performing laboratory. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings. 

Specimen Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube following an overnight (12 - 14 hour) fast. Patient must not consume any alcohol for 24 hours before the specimen is drawn. Spin down and send 1.0 mL (minimum: 0.5 mL) of serum FROZEN plastic vial on dry ice. 
Reference Values 60 - 80% of total cholesterol
