|Description||Useful for detecting placental syncytiotrophoblasts and tumors of trophoblastic origin. Also, hCG is secreted by a variety of tumors such as embryonal carcinoma. May be present in germ cell tumors, endodermal sinus tumors, and germinoma.
NOTE: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist.
