Test COMBINED ESTERASE STAIN, WITH AND WITHOUT FLUORIDE, BLOOD OR BONE MARROW 
Methodology Cytochemical Stain 
Description Useful in the detection of cytochemical staining in acute leukemia.

NOTE: "This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist." 

Specimen SUBMIT ONLY 1 OF THE FOLLOWING SPECIMENS:

PERIPHERAL BLOOD
Draw 2.0 mL of blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube. Peripheral smears must be made within 1-hour of draw. Include 5 - 10 unstained peripheral blood smears, if possible. Forward promptly at ambient temperature only.

BONE MARROW
1.0 - 5.0 mL of bone marrow in a green-top (sodium heparin) tube. Include 5 - 10 unstained bone marrow aspirate smears, if possible. Forward promptly at ambient temperature only. 

Reference Values An interpretive report will be issued.
