|Description||The intermediate filament desmin is present in some smooth and skeletal muscle neoplasms. It is, therefore, helpful in supporting a myogenous origin immunohistochemically. This antisera can be used in conjunction with antisera to myoglobin, see "Myoglobin, Immunohistochemistry Stain."
NOTE: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist.
