|Test||CREATININE, SERUM (with EGFR/GFR)|
|Description||Useful for the evaluation of renal function.
The eGFR/GFR, Glomerular Filtration Rate (estimated or calculated), is reported along with the Creatinine result.
NOTE: The recent use of acetaminophen or N-acetyl-cysteine may interfere directly or via metabolites (N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone imine) with the Trinder methodology used to perform this test resulting in falsely decreased results on any type of specimen.
|Specimen||Draw blood in either a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube. Spin down and send 1.0 mL (0.3 mL minimum) of serum refrigerated.|
|MMC Specimen||Draw blood in a plasma gel tube. 1.0 mL (0.3 mL minimum) of plasma required.|
|Reference Values||0.5 - 1.3 mg/dL
NOTE: Dobutamine, Levodopa and Calcium dobesilate (e.g. Dexium) cause artificially low creatinine results at the therapeutic drug level.
|Analytic Time||1 Day - Available STAT|
|Day(s) Test Set Up||Monday through Sunday|
