Methodology Manual Microscopy 
Description Useful for the detection of increased eosinophil count 
Specimen SUBMIT 1 OF THE FOLLOWING SPECIMENS:

NASAL SWAB SPECIMENS
Place swab specimen in transport media (without gel). Maintain at ambient temperature and forward promptly. (Smears may also be submitted but must be labeled with patient name.)
NOTE: SPECIMEN SOURCE IS REQUIRED ON REQUEST
FORM FOR PROCESSING.

SPUTUM SPECIMENS
Place specimen in a screw-capped, sterile container. Maintain at ambient temperature and forward promptly. (0.5 mL minimum)
(Smears may also be submitted but must be labeled with patient name.)
NOTE: SPECIMEN SOURCE IS REQUIRED ON REQUEST
FORM FOR PROCESSING.

URINE SPECIMENS
10 mL ( 2.0 mL minimum) from a random clean-catch urine collection.
NOTE: SPECIMEN SOURCE IS REQUIRED ON REQUEST

FORM FOR PROCESSING. 

Reference Values An interpretive report will be issued.
