Methodology Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) 
Description Useful for the qualitative detection of IgG antibodies to rubeola virus. The presence of demonstrable IgG generally indicates immunity acquired naturally or via immunization. 
Specimen Draw blood in either a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube. Spin down and send 1.0 mL (minimum volume: 0.5 mL) of serum refrigerated in a screw-capped, plastic vial. If specimen will not arrive within 2 days of draw, send specimen FROZEN in plastic vial on dry ice. 
Reference Values Negative: Negative for measles IgG antibodies, presumed non-immune to measles infection
Equivocal: Equivocal for measles IgG antibodies, suggest retesting in 10 - 14 days if clinically indicated
Positive: Positive for measles IgG antibodies, presumed immune to measles infection
