|Test||SYNAPTOPHYSIN, IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY STAIN|
|Description||In neoplasms with endocrine differentiation, synaptophysin and chromogranin have been found to be the most useful due to their broad spectrum sensitivity and preservation in conventional paraffin-embedding processing. Either or both markers may be employed, when recognition of a process of an endocrine nature is important in the differential diagnosis.
NOTE: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist.
