Methodology Electrophoresis, Immunofixation, Turbidimetric Immunoassay, Spectrophotometry (SP) 
Description Useful for identification of free light-chains (Bence Jones proteins).
Includes urine total protein. Immunofixation performed if indicated to characterize monoclonal proteins at an additional charge.

NOTE: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately. 

Specimen 15 mL (minimum volume: 10 mL) from a 24-hour urine collection. No preservative. Send specimen refrigerated. If 24-hour urine collection is not possible a random urine sample will be accepted.

NOTE:
1. 24-HOUR VOLUME IS REQUIRED ON REQUEST FORM FOR PROCESSING.
2. Prior to aliquoting specimen, mix specimen well, measure and record volume.
3. Follow "Urine Collection" instructions. 
Reference Values An interpretive report will be issued.
