|Description||Immunostaining for the intermediate filaments (desmin, keratin, and vimentin) may be helpful in assessing the histogenesis of large cell malignant neoplasms and separately those of epithelial, lymphoid, and mesenchymal origin, see "Desmin, Immunohistochemistry Stain" or "Keratin Immunohistochemistry Stain."
NOTE: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist.
