Test CITRATE EXCRETION, 24-HOUR URINE 
Methodology Enzymatic 
Description Useful for diagnosing risk factors for patients with calcium kidney stones and for monitoring results of therapy in patients with calcium stones or renal tubular acidosis. 
Specimen 4.0 mL (minimum: 1.0 mL) of urine from a 24-hour collection. Add 10 g boric acid as preservative at start of collection. See "Urine Preservatives" for multiple collections or other acceptable preservatives. Mix well before taking 5.0 mL aliquot. Any drug that causes alkalemia or acidemia may be expected to alter citrate excretion and should be avoided, if possible. Send specimen refrigerated in a plastic aliquot tube.

NOTE: Patient's age and 24-hour volume are required on request form for processing.
