|Specimen||Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube, from a fasting patient (4 hour fast preferred) Spin down and send 1.5 mL (minimum: 1.2 mL) of serum refrigerated in a screw-capped, plastic vial.|
|Reference Values||Pediatrics <16: 24 - 86 pg/mL
Males > or = 16 years: 18 - 64 pg/mL
Females > or = 16 years: 18 - 78 pg/mL
NOTE: Reference values were determined in the wintertime in Rochester, MN. Normal patients who have increased exposure to sunlight may have values above this normal range.
