|Test Code||TRAB / THYRO-M|
|Test||THYROTROPIN RECEPTOR ANTIBODY, SERUM|
|Methodology||Electrochemiluminescence Immunoassay (ECLIA)|
|Description||This assay may be used to distinguish Graves' disease from toxic nodular goiter, provides similar information as the thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulin test but requires less serum and has a shorter turnaround time, and may be useful in monitoaring the efficacy of antithyroid drug therapy to predict the likelihood of disease remission.|
|Specimen||Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube. Spin down and send 1.0 mL (minimum: 0.25 mL) of serum refrigerated in a plastic vial.
PRECAUTIONS: This test should not be requested on patients who have recently received radioisotopes therapeutically or diagnostically.
