|Description||Useful for detection of pancreatic endocrine tumors and for assessment of vagal nerve function after a meal or sham feeding.|
|Specimen||Draw blood in lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s) from a fasting patient (8 hours). (PLASMA SEPARATOR TUBE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.) Spin down, keep specimen cold, and send 3.0 mL (minimum: 0.4 mL) of EDTA plasma FROZEN in a plastic vial on dry ice.
