|Methodology||Nucleic Acid Probe / Conventional Identification Methods
Nucleic acid probes used for identification, where applicable, include those for: Histoplasma capsulatum, Blastomyces dermatitidis, and Coccidioides immitis.
|Description||Useful for identification of pure isolates of filamentous fugi and or yeast|
|Specimen||Send isolated mold or yeast on Sabouraud's dextrose agar slant. Organism must be in pure culture, actively growing, placed in proper mailing container (agar plates are not acceptable), and labeled as an etiologic agent, if appropriate.
