Methodology Conventional Culture with Fluorescent Antibody Procedure Utilized for identification of positive cultures. 
Description Includes direct smear with fluorescent antibody stain. 
Specimen Bronchial washings, bronchoalveolar lavage, bronchus fluid, chest fluid, chest tube drainage, empyema, endotracheal fluid, fresh lung tissue, induced sputum, lingula (lung), lung biopsy, protected catheter brush, pericardial fluid or tissue, pleura, pleural fluid, sputum, thoracentesis fluid, tracheal secretion, transbronchial biopsy, or transtracheal aspirate should be sent in a screw-capped, sterile container refrigerated. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.

NOTE: SPECIMEN SOURCE IS REQUIRED ON REQUEST FORM FOR PROCESSING.
