Methodology Conventional Culture 
Description Includes Culture, Aerobic Bacteria and Gram Stain. Significant isolates reflex to organism identification and antibiotic susceptibility test.
Additional charges apply. 
Specimen SPECIMEN SHOULD ARRIVE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF COLLECTION.

SUBMIT ONLY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING SPECIMENS:

Acceptable sources are abscesses, body fluids (sterile), intrauterine device (for Actinomyces only), percutaneous transtracheal aspirates, suprapubic aspirations, and wounds.

1. Aseptically collect specimen from a source not normally colonized by anaerobes.
2. Submit specimen in an anaerobic transport vial.
3. Label container with patientís name (first and last), date of birth or medical record number, date and time of collection, collectorís initials and specimen source.
4. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.

NOTE: SPECIMEN SOURCE IS REQUIRED ON REQUEST FORM FOR PROCESSING.
