Methodology Fluorescence Polarization Immunoassay (FPIA) 
Description Useful for the acute management of ventricular arrhythmias following a myocardial infarction or during cardiac manipulation such as surgery. 
Specimen Draw blood in either a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube at steady state (6 - 12 hours after initiation of therapy without loading dose), or 1.5 - 2 hours post-dose with loading dose. Spin down and send 0.5 mL of serum refrigerated. 
MMC Specimen Draw blood in a plasma gel tube at steady state (6 - 12 hours after initiation of therapy without loading dose), or 1.5 - 2 hours post-dose with loading dose. 0.5 mL of plasma required. 
Reference Values Therapeutic concentration: 1.5 - 5.0 g/mL
Toxic concentration: > 7.0 g/mL
