|Test||CD30 (KI-1), IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY STAIN|
|Description||The CD30 cellular glycoprotein was originally identified in Hodgkin's disease cell cultures, but has been found to be expressed also by a variety of "activated" large lymphoid cells in processes such as anaplastic large-cell lymphoma, lymphomatoid papulosis, but not in carcinomas. The Ber-H2 antibody demonstrates this antigen in paraffin or frozen sections and, therefore, is a practical means for demonstrating a lymphoid phenotype in tumors with bizarre, anaplastic large-cell composition.
NOTE: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist.
