Test Code LDENZ / LD_I - M
Test LACTATE DEHYDROGENASE (LD) ISOENZYMES, SERUM
Methodology Electrophoresis/Photometric Rate
Description Includes total LD and isoenzyme fractionation.
Useful for differentiating heart from liver and other sources of LD. Used by many clinicians in the diagnosis of myocardial infarctions in combination with total creatine kinase (CK), and CK-MB.
Specimen Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube from a fasting patient. (HEMOLYZED SPECIMEN IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.) Spin down and send 2.0 mL (minimum: 0.8 mL) of serum. SPECIMEN CANNOT BE REFRIGERATED OR FROZEN, AMBIENT ONLY.
