Test GENTAMICIN, RANDOM, SERUM 
Methodology Fluorescence Polarization Immunoassay (FPIA) 
Specimen Draw blood in either a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube. Spin down and send 0.5 mL of serum FROZEN in plastic vial on dry ice.

NOTE:
1. If specimens must be stored for later testing, they may be kept capped at 2 to 8 C for 1 week or capped at -20 C for 4 weeks. Specimens should not be repeatedly frozen and thawed.
2. Patient specimens containing the drugs sisomycin and netilmicin will yield falsely elevated values for gentamicin, however, these drugs are not usually coadministered with gentamicin. 

MMC Specimen Draw blood in a plasma gel tube. 0.5 mL of plasma required.
