|Description||Useful for diagnosis of current hepatitis C viral (HCV) infection, chronic HCV infection, or resolved HCV (past) infection.
NOTE: This test should not be ordered on children less than 2 years of age. The recommended test for this population is "HCV RNA Viral Load (HCVVL)"
|Specimen||Draw blood in either a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube. Spin down and send 1.0 mL (minimum volume: 0.5 mL) of serum refrigerated.|
|Reference Values||Negative (reported as positive, negative or equivocal)
NOTE: If clinically indicated, repeat testing by HCV-RNA Viral Load (HCVVL) is recommended.
