DHEAA / DHEA-M
DEHYDROEPIANDROSTERONE (DHEA) , SERUM

Test Code DHEAA / DHEA-M
Test DEHYDROEPIANDROSTERONE (DHEA) , SERUM
Methodology Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
Description Currently, the correlation with serum DHEA level and human well-being or disease risk factors have not been completely established. Clinical usefulness of measurement of DHEA is still restricted in the diagnosis of congenital adrenal hyperplasia in conjunction with measurements of cortisol/cortisone, and 17 alphahydroxyprogesterone.

NOTE: This test is intended for adult patients only. For pediatric patients, please order DHEA, Pediatric, Serum (PDHE6).

Specimen Draw blood a plain red-top tube. Spin down and send 1.0 Ml (minimum: 0.4 Ml) of serum FROZEN in a plastic screw-capped vial.

NOTE: Patient's age and sex are required on request form for processing.
