|Test||MOC-31, IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY STAIN|
|Description||MOC-31 (epithelial related antigen) recognizes a membrane glycoprotein of 40kD molecular mass which is present on epithelial cells but not on mesothelial cells. Therefore, MOC-31 may be used as part of an antibody panel in the differential diagnosis of adenocarcinoma, which is usually positive, versus mesothelioma which is usually negative.
Note: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist.
