|Test||CD23, IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY STAIN|
|Description||CD23 is expressed by monocytes, polymorphonuclear leukocytes, B-cells and a subpopulation of T-cells. The CD23 antibody labels neoplastic cells from cases of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia and some cases of centroblastic/centrocytic lymphoma. It is used to differentiate between B-CLL/SLL, which are usually positive, from mantle cell lymphoma and small cleaved lymphomas which are usually negative, It is often used in conjuntion with CD5.
NOTE: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist.
