Test Code TOBRP
Test TOBRAMYCIN, PEAK, SERUM
Methodology Fluorescence Polarization Immunoassay (FPIA)
Specimen Draw blood in either a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube 60 minutes after an intramuscular injection or 30 minutes after a 30 minute infusion or immediately following a 60 minute infusion. Spin down and send 0.5 mL of serum FROZEN in plastic vial on dry ice.

NOTE: SPECIMENS CONTAINING ADDITIONAL ANTIBIOTICS SHOULD BE STORED FROZEN IF ANY DELAY IN ANALYSIS OR MORE THAN 4 HOURS IN TRANSPORT TIME IS ANTICIPATED. FAILURE TO FREEZE SPECIMEN CONTAINING ADDITIONAL ANTIBIOTICS MAY RESULT IN FALSELY LOW TOBRAMYCIN LEVELS DUE TO IN VITRO INACTIVATION.
