Methodology Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay (CMIA) 
Description Useful for diagnosis of an acute hepatitis B infection and aids in the diagnosis between acute or chronic hepatitis B virus infection when used with other serological markers. 
Specimen Draw blood in either a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube. Spin down and send 1.0 mL (minimum volume: 0.5 mL) of serum refrigerated. 
Reference Values Negative (reported as positive, negative or equivocal)
Interpretation depends on clinical setting.
