|Test||RAPID BLOOD CULTURE IDENTIFICATION (GRAM NEGATIVE) – REFLEX TEST ONLY|
|Methodology||Verigene Multiplex Film Array|
|Description||To provide rapid identification of gram negative organisms growing in a blood culture, in advance of phenotypical identification and susceptibility testing.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A REFLEX TEST ONLY
|Specimen||Positive blood culture demonstrating gram negative organisms by Gram stain|
|Reference Values||"Detected" or "Not detected" for the analyzed targets.
Organisms included in assay: Acinetobacter spp.; Citrobacter spp.; Enterobacter spp.; Escherichieae spp.; Klebsiella oxytoca; Klebsiella pneumoniae; Proteus spp.; Pseudomonas aeruginosa.Resistance markers included in assay: CTX-M; KPC; NDM; OXA; VIM; IMP.
LIMITATIONS: The following results may have the indicated limitations:
+In mixed cultures containing gram-negative bacteria and other organisms, BC-GN may not identify all the detectable organisms in the specimen.
A trained health care professional should interpret assay results together with a patient's medical history, clinical signs and symptoms, and the results of other diagnostic tests.
|Analytic Time||Within 3 hours of initial positive blood culture report|
