|Methodology||Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA)|
|Description||Useful for the in vitro diagnostic detection of Treponema pallidum (syphilis) antibodies in human serum.
Positive or Equivocal results will reflex to the RPR card test, with dilutions, at an additional charge. Samples negative by RPR card test are forwarded to Mayo Medical Laboratory for supplemental testing for T. Pallidum at an additional charge.
|Specimen||Draw blood in a plain red-top or serum gel tube. Spin down and send 1.0 mL (minimum: 0.5 mL) of serum refrigerated in a screw-capped, plastic vial. If specimen will not arrive within 2 days of draw, send specimen FROZEN in plastic vial on dry ice.|
