Description Useful For
Diagnosing mycobacteremia 
Specimen Draw blood in a green top sodium heparin tube. Send original tube. 10 mL of blood per culture is required. Send specimen at room temperature. 
Reference Values Negative
If positive, mycobacteria is identified.
A final negative report will be issued after 60 days of incubation.
