Methodology Hemoglobin fractionation: high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC); hemoglobin solubility: sodium hydrosulfite reduction 
Description Use: For the diagnosis of thalassemias and hemoglobin variants 
Specimen Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube (s) and send 1.0 mL (minimum 0.5 mL) of EDTA whole blood refrigerated in the original collection tube. SPECIMEN CANNOT BE FROZEN. Do not transfer blood to other containers.

3 weeks: 62.7% to 77.3%
6-9 weeks: 41.9% to 63.9%
