Methodology Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) 
Description Useful in the diagnosis and confirmation of pheochromocytoma and for screening of high-risk patients; particularly in patients with resistant hypertension, hypertensive spells, or adrenal masses.
Also useful in examining extraneuronal metabolism of catecholamines 
Specimen Draw blood in lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s). Spin down as soon as possible to avoid hemolysis and send 1.0 mL (minimum: 0.3 mL) of EDTA plasma FROZEN or refrigerated in a plastic vial. Grossly hemolyzed specimens will be rejected.
