|Methodology||Titration-Red Cell Agglutination at 4 Degrees C|
Detection of cold agglutinins in patients with suspected cold
|Specimen||Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s). (Serum gel tube is not
acceptable.) Spin down and send 4 mL of serum. Do not refrigerate prior to separation of serum from red cells. Separate serum from red cells immediately after blood clot, and send serum refrigerated.
If positive, results are titered.
