Methodology Inductively Coupled Plasma/Mass Spectrometry (ICP/MS) 
Description USEFUL FOR DETECTING EXPOSURE TO ARSENIC, LEAD, CADMIUM, AND MERCURY

NOTE: NorDx offers both an essential elements screen and a heavy metals screen. In the case when a metals screen is ordered, we will assume this to be a heavy metals screen request. In case we have misinterpreted your request, the specimen will be retained for 2 weeks following testing during which time you may call and request other testing. 

Specimen Draw blood in a royal blue-top (EDTA) collection tube and send full tube (minimum 0.3 mL) of EDTA whole blood. Send specimen in original tube. It is important that the specimen be obtained, processed, and transported according to instructions on “Trace Metals Analysis Specimen Collection and Transport” under Special Instructions.

NOTE: A Lead Form must accompany all specimens. Please click on "Required Lead Form - NorDx" under special instructions below. Complete form prior to printing. 

Reference Values ARSENIC: All Ages: 0-12 ng/mL

LEAD: All ages: 0.0-4.9 mcg/Dl

Critical values
Pediatrics (< or =15 years): > or =20.0 mcg/dL
Adults (> or =16 years): > or =70.0 mcg/dL

CADMIUM: All ages: 0.0-4.9 ng/mL

MERCURY: All ages: 0-9 ng/mL.
