Test CD138 (SYNDECAN-1), IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY STAIN 
Description The CD138 antibody recognizes the human CD 138 antigen, a transmembrane heparin sulfate proteoglycan macromolecule also known as syndecan-1. CD138 is a useful marker for labeling normal and neoplastic plasma cells and plasmacytoid lymphomas. Various forms of Hodgkin's disease have also shown positive staining with this antibody.
Note: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist. 
Specimen Formalin-fixed or paraffin-embedded tissue specimen. 
Reference Values An interpretive report will be provided.
