|Description||The Rapid fFN assay is a device used as an aid in assessing the risk of preterm delivery among symptomatic and asymptomatic pregnant women. Detection of Fetal Fibronectin in cervicovaginal secretions should not be intrepreted alone to assess risk of imminent delivery.
This test is to be ordered on a client bill basis only.
|Specimen||The specimen must be obtained from the posterior fornix of the vagina or the ectocervical region of the external cervical os. The Adeza collection kit is the only acceptable system that can be used to obtain the specimen.
It is ideal to transport specimens refrigerated, however the sample integrity is maintained for 3 days at 2-8 degrees C or at room temperature for 8 hours.
