|Test||GALECTIN-3, IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY STAIN|
|Description||Galectin-3 is expressed in various tissues and organs. It has been shown to mark all thyroid malignancies of follicular cell origin (papillary, follicular, and anaplastic carcinomas), but does not stain benign thyroid adenomas, goiters, or normal thyroid tissue.
NOTE: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist
