|Description||P16 protein functions to inhibit cyclin dependent kinase activity. Immunohistochemical expression has been observed in the pathogenesis of a variety of malignancies. P16 expression has been observed in cervical cancer and has been associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) positive and HPV negative cervical adenocarcinomas.
NOTE: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist
