|Description||CD56, also known as Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule (NCAM) is a natural killer cell marker. CD56 is present on certain large granular lymphocyte (LGL) leukemias, small cell lung carcinomas, myelomas, and myeloid leukemias. CD56 is also expressed in brain (cerebellum and cortex) and at neuromuscular junctions.
NOTE: This test is usually ordered in conjunction with a pathology consultation. The pathology professional component will be billed separately by the consulting pathologist.
