BAP / BAP-M
BONE ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE, SERUM

Test Code BAP / BAP-M
Test BONE ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE, SERUM
Methodology Immunoenzymatic Assay
Description This test is useful for diagnosis and assessment of severity of metabolic bone disease including Paget's disease, osteomalacia, and other states of high bone turnover. It may also be useful in
monitoring efficacy of antiresorptive therapies including post-menopausal osteoporosis treatment.

The assay is not intended as a screening test for osteoporosis. Assay results should be used only in conjunction with information available from the clinical evaluation of the patient and other diagnostic procedures.
Measurements of bone turnover markers are not useful for the diagnosis of osteoporosis; diagnosis of osteoporosis should be made on the basis of bone density.

Specimen Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s) or serum gel tube(s). Spin down and send 0.6 mL (minimum 0.5 mL) of serum refrigerated.
