Test IMMUNOGLOBULIN GENE REARRANGEMENT, POLYMERASE CHAIN REACTION (PCR) 
Methodology DNA extracted for analysis / Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) PCR is utilized pursuant to a license agreement with Roche Molecular Systems, Inc. 
Description Useful for distinguishing reactive B-cell processes from B-cell neoplasms, for detecting the presence of persistent clonal B-cell populations, and identifying neoplastic cells as having B-cell or plasma cell differentiation.

NOTE:
1. Third party billing IS NOT AVAILABLE for this test. When ordered on Medicare patients, a properly executed Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) must be submitted with the specimen.
2. Performance characteristics have been determined by the performing laboratory. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings. 

Specimen Specimen must include a "Hematopathology/Molecular Oncology/Cytogenetics Request Form" with relevant clinical information and cytogenetics results, if available. Specimen must arrive within 72 hours of collection.
SUBMIT ONLY 1 OF THE FOLLOWING SPECIMENS:

BLOOD
Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s), or yellow-top (ACD) tubes and send 6.0 mL (minimum: 3.0 mL) of whole blood in the original VACUTAINERS®. Invert several times to mix blood. Forward unprocessed whole blood promptly at ambient temperature only.

BONE MARROW
Place 2.0 mL (minimum: 1.0 mL) of bone marrow in a
lavender-top (EDTA) tube. Invert several times to mix bone marrow. Forward unprocessed bone marrow promptly at ambient temperature only.

SPINAL FLUID
5.0 - 10 mL (minimum: 1.0 mL) of spinal fluid. Forward promptly in a screw-capped, sterile vial at ambient temperature only.

TISSUE
200 mg (minimum: 100 mg) of fresh tissue. Specimen must be FROZEN within 1 hour of collection. Send specimen FROZEN in plastic container. 

Reference Values An interpretive report will be provided.
