|Methodology||COBAS Ampliprep/COBAS Taqman HCV Test, v2.0, Quantitative Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR)|
|Description||Useful for quantification of HCV viral load in plasma or serum, for monitoring drug therapy and disease progression from known infected patients with or without anti-viral therapy.
This test should not be used as a primary screening or diagnostic test.
NOTE: HCV testing is not available for specimens originating in New York.
|Specimen||Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube, plain red-top, or serum gel tube (SST). Spin down, remove plasma or serum from cells within 24 hours, and send 2.0 mL of serum or EDTA plasma FROZEN in a screw-capped plastic vial.|
Result range of the assay is 15 to 100,000,000 IU/mL (1.18 to 8.0 log IU/mL)
