Methodology Immunochemiluminometric Assay (ICMA) 
Description Useful for the diagnosis of humoral hypercalcemia of malignancy (HHM) in patients with hypercalcemia and non-elevated PTH. When a patient with HHM has an increased PTHrP value, the test is used to monitor treatment. 
Specimen Draw blood in an ice-cooled, lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s) from a fasting patient. Spin down in a refrigerated centrifuge, and send 0.7mL (minimum 0.25 ml) of EDTA plasma frozen in a plastic vial. 
Reference Values < 2.0 pmol/L
