Methodology Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) 
Description Antifungals included in the assay are amphotericin B, fluconazole, 5-flucytosine, itraconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole and caspofungin.

This assay is for use in vitro in determining quantitative antifungal susceptibility (MIC) of nonfastidious yeast including Candida species, Cryptococcus neoformans and other fastidious yeasts.

NOTE:
1. Third party billing IS NOT AVAILABLE for this test. When ordered on Medicare patients, a properly executed Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) must be submitted with the specimen.
2. Performance characteristics have been determined by the performing laboratory. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings. 

Specimen Send infecting yeast on Sabouraud's dextrose agar slant. Organisms must be in pure culture, actively growing, placed in a proper mailing container (agar plates are not acceptable), and labeled as an etiologic agent.

NOTE:
1. ANTIMICROBIAL(S) AND SPECIMEN SOURCE ARE REQUIRED ON REQUEST FORM FOR PROCESSING.
2. Include suspected organism identification on request form.
