Methodology Automated Turbidimetric Immunoassay 
Description Useful for definitive studies of cardiac risk factors in individuals with significant family histories of coronary artery disease or other increased risk factors; for follow-up studies in individuals with abnormal LDL cholesterol values; and for confirmation of suspected abetalipoproteinemia or hypobetalipoproteinemia. 
Specimen Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube,spin down within 4hrs of collection and send 1.0 mL (minimum 0.5 mL) of EDTA plasma refrigerated in a screw-capped, plastic vial. If specimen pick up is greater than 72hrs specimen must be frozen.
