Methodology Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA) - IgG
Immunofluorescence Assay (IFA )- IgM 
Description Useful for serologic testing for HSV types 1 or 2 for determining acute phase infection with the virus, especially for patients without clear-cut clinical symptoms.
If HSV antibody screen, IgM by EIA is reactive, then HSV antibody, IgM by IFA will be performed at an additional charge. 
Specimen Draw blood in either a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube. Spin down and send 1.0 mL (minimum 0.8 mL) of serum refrigerated in a screw-capped, plastic vial.
