|Methodology||Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) Emission Spectroscopy|
|Description||Useful for diagnosis of hemochromatosis, hemolytic anemia, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinemia, and impaired biliary clearance|
|Specimen||1. 10 mL (minimum 5.0 mL) from a 24-hour urine collection. No preservative. See "Urine Preservatives" for multiple collections.
2. Collect in clean, plastic urine containers(s) with no metal cap(s) or glued insert(s) supplied by NorDx.
3. Send specimen in a clean, plastic aliquot container with no metal cap or glued insert. See "Metals Analysis - Collection and Transport" for complete instructions.
4. Refrigerate specimen within 4 hours of completion of 24-hour collection. Send specimen refrigerated.

The reference value is for a 24-hour collection. Specimens collected for other than a 24-hour time period are reported in units of µg/L, for which reference values are not established.
