|Test||BCL-2, IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY STAIN|
|Description||Bcl-2 is detectable in neoplastic lymphoma cells in which the 14:18 chromosomal translocation is present. It has shown consistent negative staining of reactive germinal centers and positive staining of neoplastic follicles in follicular lymphoma. Therefore, Bcl-2 is useful in the distinction between follicular hyperplasia and follicular lymphoma. The Bcl-2 product is considered to act as an inhibitor of apoptosis.
